ANNOUNCES
A Session on Ontology for Modeling and Simulation

Session: Ontology for Modeling and Simulation
Chair: John A. Miller (University of Georgia) and Paul A. Fishwick (University of Florida)
Date: Monday, December 6, 2004

Using XML markup languages and ontology languages for modeling and simulation is becoming more important. Markup languages can be used for data interchange between models. They can also provide a programming language independent way to describe or even formally specify a simulation model. An ontology can be used to provide a conceptual framework for simulation and modeling. As such an ontology can establish a semantic foundation for models, systems, results, applications and markup languages that enhances discovery, use and interoperation. The evolving Semantic Web initiative is developing a suite of Web languages to facilitate this: XML, RDF, RDF-S, OWL, SWRL.
