Assignment 5: A picture a day
Assignment Day | February 17, 2011 (Thursday) |
Due Date | One image a day up to February 24, 2011 (Thursday night). A total of 7 images are required. |
Pick one lens (or stick with a 'fixed' focal length if you only have zoom lenses) and shot the same 'human' subject every day and post it to our flickr group. You must use the same subject. If you like you may do self portraits. Try different lights, indoors, outdoors, posed or candids. Challenge yourself.
Process your image. Make sure you color balance so that you reproduce skin tones as accurately as you can. Avoid noise, and try to pick nice looking backgrounds/contexts to complement the subject. Try to compose your image as well as you can (e.g., select an appropriate depth of field), make sure your eye is drawn to the subject and not out of the image.
You may consider exploring simple compositional concepts such as the rule of thirds (see here for more details on rule of thirds), or use leading lines to draw in the eye into the image (see here for a discussion on lead in lines).
Requirements: An image a day, a total of seven well exposed and color balanced images submitted our flickr group, critique at least one of your classmates images (critique at least the submission that is just ahead of your own submission).
