Michael E. Cotterell @ UGA CS

Michael Cotterell is a Faculty Instructor and Ph.D. student in the Computer Science Department at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA.


He received his B.S. in Computer Science from UGA in May 2011. As an undergraduate, he served for 2 years as Vice Chairman of the UGA Chapter of the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM). In 2012, he interned at the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), where he conducted research on formal ontologies for Energy Systems Integration and the Energy Informatics domain. He served as the 2013-2014 Faculty Liaison for the UGA Computer Science Graduate Student Association (CSGSA). In 2014, he was a recipient of the NSA Mathematics and Computer Science Student Scholarship. His research interests include Simulation, Big Data Analytics, and Formal Ontologies with inter-disciplinary applications related to Statistics and Informatics.
