CSCI 6610 Automata and Formal Languages Spring 2004 Final Examination The final examination will be held Thursday, May 6 3:30-6:30 PM in room 306 Boyd. The examination will be closed book, no notes, and no calculators or other electronic devices with general memory or communication capability. Coverage in the text: Chs. 4 and 5 (all sections); Section 6.3; Chs. 7 and 8 (all sections); Sections 9.1 and 9.3. Coverage in HU1 (Hopcroft and Ullman, 1st edition): Sections 6.3, 8.6, and 8.7. Relative weight of course material: The examination will be comprehensive, but the topics from Chapters 8 and 9 (Sections 1 and 3) will be weighted more heavily (relative to time spent in class) than the earlier topics and will comprise about 58% of the examination. Advice on studying for the final exam: In addition to the text and HU1 sections covered and your class notes, homework sets 1-7 should be thoroughly understood. Midterm review questions were handed out in class before spring break and three additional review questions are posted on the course web site. Final exam review questions were handed out in class on April 27. In the latter question 9 may be omitted, as Section 9.2 of Sipser was not covered this year. Review session: The last class, April 29, will be mostly devoted to review. Remember that classes that day are on a MONDAY SCHEDULE, so 6610 will meet 3:35-4:25.
