			         Midterm Test


The midterm test will be held in class on Thursday, March 18.
The test will be closed book, no notes, and no calculators or other
electronic devices with general memory or communication capability.


Coverage in the text:

	Chs. 4 and 5 (all sections);
	Section 6.3;
	Ch. 7 (all sections).

Coverage in HU1 (Hopcroft and Ullman, 1st edition):

	Sections 6.3, 8.6, and 8.7.


Advice on studying for the midterm test:

	In addition to the text and HU sections covered and your class notes,
	homework sets 1-4 should be thoroughly understood.  In class the midterm
	test from 2003 will be handed out before spring break; it covered through
	section 7.3 of Sipser.
