I am delighted to lead our collaborative research and educational efforts at my laboratory, entitled "Applied Machine Intelligence Initiatives and Education (AMIIE)" Laboratory. The main goal and purpose of the AMIIE Laboratory are to conduct and promote fundamental and applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) research and education in solving real-world problems, ranging from health informatics to surveillance systems and security. We have the vision to be a world-class leader in research, education, commercialization, and scholarship in applied AI. I received my B.Sc. Degree in Computer Software Engineering (2006), and my M.Sc. Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Networks from AmirKabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), Iran (2013). I was a Lecturer in Computer Science and Course Coordinator of the IT Program in the Computer Science Department of the Technical and Vocational University, Lecturer at the University of Applied Science (Academic Center for Education, Culture, and Research), and Teacher at Technical High School in Iran (2001-2016). In addition, I have received many scholarships from Anita Borg Grace Hopper, TAPIA Conference, and CRA-W Grad Cohort. Furthermore, I was awarded the 2019 International Conference on Computational Science and Computational Intelligence CSCI 2019 Outstanding Achievement Award, and I was named a Finalist of the 2020 NCWIT (National Center for Women and Information Technology) Collegiate Award. My research focus include Deep Learning, Image Processing, Image and Video Captioning. My most recent activities include investigating different methodologies to improve video captioning methods for automatic creation of metadata for videos (indexing) to use by search engines and other applications.
