Useful Organizations for Computer Science Majors

All undergraduate CS majors are encouraged to join the UGA student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery. The ACM is the primary professional organization for computer science in the United States.

Computer Science majors are welcome to join the Society for Information Management Systems. SMIS hosts many events aimed at helping you get a good job with Georgia and national business, including sit-down dinners with recruiters from major IT and consulting firms. Reminder: you should dress in business attire (coat and tie) for SMIS functions.

Also, students may be interested in the UGA Linux enthusiasts' group CHUGALUG (Classic Hackers UGA Linux Users' Group). CHUGALUG's membership includes students, faculty/staff, and Linux lovers from the Athens community. Linux beginners are welcome!
